It was the yearly children’s Christmas program at Plymouth Congregational Church. The children were dressed as the wisemen, Joseph and Mary and a multitude of angels. And of course, the star of the show would be Jesus.
One of the couples in church had a small child – not an infant, yet not a toddler, who was perfect for the part. And while the story of Jesus’ birth was being read, this little child, dressed in white, sat up in the manger and looked over the audience. It was enough to give you goosebumps – it was if baby Jesus actually was with us in that room.
