A 16-year-old California girl had a dream of being the youngest person to sail solo around the world. That dream came to an end late last week when Abby Sunderland, who had been missing for 20 hours, was found alive and well. She had been sailing adrift in the southern Indian Ocean, where her boat was thrown about by huge waves.
Having a dream is a good thing. Setting out to accomplish it is also a good thing. And Ms. Sunderland seems fairly mature for her age. But do you think it was wise of her parents to let her attempt this at such a young age? Would you have let your 16-year old attempt this?
