God for All

Are you Adopted?

Have you watched any episodes of the new ABC program “Find My Family?”  It is hard not to be moved by the stories of people who have been searching most of their lives for their biological parents or long-lost siblings.

The young woman on the most recent episode, who had been adopted as an infant, was not only introduced to the brother she had been searching for, but also to a younger sister she wasn’t even aware existed. She exclaimed, “Now I have a whole new family.  As soon as I saw them, I felt complete.”

St. Paul said we Christians are all “adopted.”  To the church at Ephesus he wrote, “God destined us for adoption as his children through Jesus Christ, according to the good pleasure of his will.”  (Ephesians 1:5)  We have been in God’s heart all along!  How God must rejoice when we choose to come back to “his family!”
